Bathing Suits
From LoveToKnow Swimsuits
There was a time when simple bathing suits were the only acceptable choice of swimwear on the beach, but the Brazilians changed all that, and broke the mold when they introduced G-string bikinis to the world in the 1970’s.
Bathing Suits Are A Great Choice
Today, the market is peppered with swimwear with names like mesh bikinis, thongs and tongas. Even though this diversity in choice is great, there’s nothing as comforting as walking out of the store with a bathing suit in tow you just know you’ll look and feel fantastic in.
Different Styles
Bathing suits have evolved significantly from their original conception in the early 1800’s. Today we see suits that are of a significantly different and varied style than the ones we've seen in the past. Here are a few of them.
- Cut out suits are extremely sexy. They can have a clasp in the front of the body, or tie around the back. Some of them are missing huge chunks of fabric on the sides, the back or even in the front.
- Some of the sexiest swimsuits out there are of the sheer variety. Here fabric plays a huge role in the way the suit molds itself to the body, as well as how good it looks and moves in the water. These suits look like any other on the market, but once wet they are a whole different ball game. They become almost completely transparent in appearance. If you still think bathing suits are boring, you won’t after donning a sheer one.
- Tied or laced suits are a powerhouse combination of skin and sex appeal. Think of the front as a corset. Now, instead of the corset being tightly closed, think of it laced but opened. The end result is electrifying. All of the benefits of a traditional corset are there; the breasts are lifted and appear fuller, the waist is cinched, but the entire look has nothing to do with Victorian England. Quite the contrary, this suit is the very definition of sexiness.
Traditional Suits
Let’s talk about traditional swimsuits, lest you think that the only swimwear available on the market today are of the overly alluring variety. Incredible details are what sets today’s bathing suits apart from their humble ancestors.
- Fastenings are the rage. Spandex has been replaced by hoops, buckles, chains and just about any other type of embellishment you can think of. It’s this kind of unexpected detail that coveys an aura of sexiness from the suit.
- Ruching, or gathering, can be particularly flattering, especially if there’s one area of the body you’d like to add emphasis to. For example, if you feel that your hips are not curvy enough, buy a Swimsuit that is slightly ruched in that area. The ruching will add a little extra fullness to your hips, thereby lending an even more womanly appearance. This is especially helpful if you feel that your body is not as balanced as you’d like it to be. Ruching allows you to round out your curves.
- Plunging necklines are another way to draw attention to your best assets, while minimizing areas of the body you may not be completely comfortable with, namely the waistline and hips. This is great because it allows you to control what you’d like others to see most, while subtly disguising any other areas of the body you’d prefer to keep hidden. For example, imagine wearing a one piece with a plunging neckline, and adding a sarong to cover a less than toned bottom half. Eyes will be drawn to the bosom and away from the hips. Mission accomplished!
- Animal prints are back with a vengeance, and they can really turn up the volume on your sexiness quotient. Have doubts about that? Well, have you ever seen a woman in a leopard-print bathing suit and thought, “Gee, that’s boring”? Exactly.
