Beach Wear and Other Accessories

One Piece Swimsuits

It used to be the only type of swimsuit you'd ever see, but these days the humble one piece has been overtaken in the popularity stakes by its more modern counterpart, the bikini.

In the past few years, however, the one piece has been making a comeback, and, thanks to new, cut-out and figure flattering styles, it's been a very glamorous comeback indeed. Great for girls with classic hour-glass shapes, just think Marilyn Monroe when you buy your one piece, and team it with big dark glasses for instant, film star style.

Bikinis

It's hard to believe there was once a time when bikinis were considered very daring. They're now the most popular type of beach wear available, and chances are there's a bikini or two hiding away in your closet right now. If not, take heart! The wide variety of bikini styles now available means that you don't have to starve yourself to look good in one. If low-cut thong swimsuits aren't for you, today's low-rise boy shorts teamed with a bikini top make a much more flattering alternative.

Tankinis

A cross between the one piece and the bikini, tankini swimsuits combine traditional bikini bottoms with vest style tops. They're a great solution for those who'd like to wear a bikini but don't want to flash too much flesh, and they can be extremely flattering in the bargain.

Cover Ups

In these health-conscious times, we're starting to recognize that too much sun isn't necessarily a good thing. Cover ups, then, are good for your health as well as being an excellent way for those of us who aren't quite as confident about our bodies as we'd like to be to still hit the beach in style. Cover ups can be anything from swim skirts to sarongs, or you could even try a kaftan or sun dress to keep you covered-up but still looking cool.

Sunglasses

An integral part of your beach wear wardrobe, your sunglasses keep your eyes safe as well as adding that extra something to your outfit. Buy a pair of this season's big sunglasses, and you can forget about having to wear makeup to the beach, too.

Shoes

The feel of sand between your toes is one of the best bits about going to the beach, and we wouldn’t dream of covering up with hot and heavy shoes! When that sand is too hot to stand on, or filled with sharp shells or rocks, however, shoes can be a good idea, and you can't go wrong with a great pair of flip flops. You can even wear them in the water, if you so desire!

Beach Bags

Shoes, sun oil, a book, your ipod… Sometimes you can end up taking a lot of baggage with you to the beach. A colorful tote bag in a waterproof fabric is the perfect way to keep everything safe and portable.

Have fun!
