Boy Shorts
From LoveToKnow Swimsuits
What Are Boy Shorts?
Boy shorts are exactly what they sound like, shorts cut "boy style" – a little like hot pants, but worn as lingerie or swimwear rather than outerwear. You may not think that boy shorts sound sexy, but a there are a whole lot of people who would disagree with you. They're fast becoming one of the most popular styles of swimwear around, with the bikini bottom being pushed firmly into second place.
So, just why are boy shorts so popular? Well, unlike the traditional bikini brief, which can be worn with comfort only by those who feel very confident about their bodies, the boy short flatters almost any shape. The hipster cut of these shorts makes the stomach look longer and flatter, while bottom and thighs are covered up much more effectively than they are by most bikini bottoms.
The boy short is comfortable, easy to wear and looks great at both beach and pool. How many more reasons do you need?
How to Wear Them
One of the great things about boy shorts is that you can wear them with anything you fancy. With so many swimsuit stores now selling bikini tops and bottoms as separates as well as sets, you can pair your boy shorts with a wide variety of different tops.
A tankini top with boy shorts, for example, will create a sporty look, whilBe boy shorts teamed with a sexy halter top will give a retro, 50's shape reminiscent of screen sirens such as Marilyn Monroe. A push up bra style bikini top, or triangle top allows women to make the most of their assets, while relying on a pair of boy shorts to make sure the overall look isn't too hot even for the beach!
Finally, boy shorts worn with a wide, hipster belt are popular at the moment, and will make you look like the ultimate Bond girl. Who could say no to that?
Styles of Shorts
As you'd expect from one of the world's most popular styles of swimwear, you'll find boy shorts in every fabric and color imaginable. While most swim shorts are made from waterproof Lycra, you'll also find boy shorts in cotton, and even terry towelling.
Unlike more conventional swim shorts, which may be loose or tight fitting as required, boy shorts are fairly uniform in shape. Designed to fit snugly and show off your curves while still hiding your flaws, they're tight-fitting and short, generally ending just under the bottom.
The same style of shorts are also worn as bed wear and lingerie, so make sure that the shorts you're buying are designed for swimming, or you could find that the fabric fades or wears after exposure to salt water or chlorine.
Why Choose Shorts?
There are a few good reasons to make the switch from traditional bikini briefs or thongs to the short and sexy boy short. In the world of lingerie, the boy short has been gaining in popularity for the past few years due to the fact that the shorts are so comfortable to wear, work well under low-wasted hipster jeans, and don't leave much in the way of a visible panty line.
Of course, when it comes to swimwear, you don't have to worry about visible panty lines. What you do have to worry about, though, is exposing your wobbly bits in tiny bikini bottoms, and boy shorts help eliminate that worry, leaving you free to relax and enjoy the sun, sea, and pool. No one wants to spend their vacation tugging at their bathing suit or holding in their stomach, and a great pair of boy shorts will cover those bits you'd rather not show, flattering your figure as good swimwear should.
