Cheap Junior Swimwear

From LoveToKnow Swimsuits

For parents dealing with young daughters, finding cheap junior swimwear for the summer can save a lot of money, while still outfitting your child in attractive swimsuits.

Why Buy Cheap Junior Swimwear?

No one knows better than Mom or Dad how fickle kids can be. They want the trendiest outfit right now, but in three months' time, the same clothes they just had to have are now sitting forgotten in the back of the closet. While some parents only clothe their children in designer duds, other savvy shopping parents know how to bargain hunt so that their hard-earned money doesn’t go to waste.

When buying swimwear, think of how often your child goes swimming. This will determine how many suits she needs. A girl that swims daily will need a rotation of several swimsuits so that they last throughout the season. For a girl who only swims on the weekend or does more sunbathing than swimming, only a couple of swimsuits may be needed.

If your daughter feels she needs a collection of swimwear, you’ll want to know where to find the most affordable styles; after all, bathing suits can sometimes be surprisingly pricey.

Most swimsuits don’t last more than one or two seasons, especially if they get heavy wear. It makes sense to save money by purchasing cheap junior swimwear whenever possible; these aren’t clothes that are going to be worn five years down the road. Also, girls in junior sizes are still growing. If you spend a lot of money on a bathing suit for her today, she might not be able to wear it next year.

Junior Swimwear at Discount Prices

You have quite a few options when it comes to finding discount swimsuits for a young girl.

  • Marshalls: This retailer carries designer and well-known brands at discounted prices. While some of the markdowns are minor, others can be as much as 50 to 75% off retail price. You’ll have to do some digging here because some Marshalls stores are roomy and well-organized, while others can be crowded. Still, you can find designer swimwear here for a fraction of its original cost.
  • Target: You have the option to shop in person or online. With the popularity of Target and its smart, trendy advertising, many juniors love getting their clothes from this retailer. Swimsuits are usually inexpensively to moderately priced; you can find one-piece suits and bikinis with various style bottoms anywhere from under $20.00 to around $35.00.
  • JC Penney: You can shop online or in person. JC Penney has built a reputation on providing clothes for kids and juniors at affordable prices. Many of the junior bathing suits are less than $20.00.
  • Outlet malls: If you live near an outlet mall, take some time to see what they offer. Some outlets are built around expensive designer labels, while others simply take in what local stores can’t sell. Expect to do more hunting around at an outlet than at a department store, but if you’re willing to look, you can find some cheap gems.

Don’t forget sales or special deals. Instead of tossing out those circulars that come in the newspaper or mailbox, take a look at them to see if any stores feature upcoming sales. If you come across a "buy one, get one free" deal and you really only need one suit, talk to your friends. If you both need a suit, the two of you can split the cost!

Caution about Shopping in Advance

While adults often take advantage of seasonal sales and buy sweaters at the end of winter that will be put away until it gets cold again, this isn’t always the best tactic when shopping for youngsters, mainly because kids’ tastes change so frequently. If you buy end-of-season swimwear and put it away for a year, your daughter may refuse to wear it when the weather warms up again. Instead of saving money, it will be wasted.

Summertime Fun

Girls just want to have fun in their swimsuits when they’re on break during the summer. They want to look good, feel comfortable and be in style. You don’t have to break the bank to get a great-looking swimsuit for your junior, either; the money you save on one swimsuit can go toward buying a second or even third one..
