Company owner and founder Brian Fitterer sat down for an exclusive interview with LTK Swim

What happens when a successful real estate investor finds inspiration in a fashion designer friend? If he’s Brian Fitterer, he launches a line of swim wear whose designs are named after the most beautiful celebrities in the world.

You might not have the body of Angelina Jolie, but you can still wear the Angelina bikini. This relatively new enterprise has already scored some favorable press, in publications such as People magazine and in Touch Weekly. Read on to discover how this sexy venture came to be and what big plans the company has for the future.

1690 Swimwear was founded by Brian Fitterer in June 2006, but the company celebrates its official launch as March 2007. Located in sunny Los Angeles, California, Fitterer used his home office address of 1690 Doheny Drive to give the company it's unusual name.

Fitterer's background is actually in real estate, as the owner/founder of Investment Property Group, a major holder of multi-family properties throughout the western United States. He started 1690 as a new venture due to his friendship with Sonia Vera, a swim wear designer with her own line. When asked what made Brian decide to promote swim wear apparel over other clothing, Fitterer attributed his interest to his friendship with Vera, as well as the fact that the company is located in Los Angeles, where swim wear is a year round clothing option.

Currently, 1690 is planning to expand it sales of those daring bikinis and sensational one pieces beyond the Internet. According to Fitterer, "We're working with buyers from various retail stores for the 2008 line. We have been picked up by some of the swim wear boutique stores, such as Diane's, and several other fashion conscious stores in L.A. and Scottsdale. We also expect to have our line carried by several New York stores."

What does 1690 Swimwear have to offer that's new and different from other swim wear lines? According to Fitterer, "1690 is playful, yet very wearable. Women will feel comfortable with the quality and fit of the suits". This mirrors the fact that young fashion conscious women aged 18-28 are the target clientele of this ultra sexy line. As for future plans, these include expansion of the line into accessories to complement the swim wear.

When you're located right in the midst of the world's most famous celebrities, it always helps to get endorsements from your rich and famous clients. When asked if there were any celebrities who have promoted or publicly worn 1690 Swimwear? Brian informed us that "Eva Longoria. star of Desperate Housewives has worn our one piece suit, and kindly sent a thank you note." Brian's philosophy behind his swim wear company is "affordable yet fashionable swim wear."
