Designer Swimsuits
From LoveToKnow Swimsuits
The designer swimsuits section is always one of the most eagerly awaited parts of any catwalk show, and it's easy to see why. Skimpy swimsuits show off supermodel physiques to perfection, but for those of us who don't have the body of a catwalk model, designer swimsuits can still be a good buy. They're cut to flatter even the most problematic of body shapes, and you'd be amazed at what a good designer swimsuit can do for you.
Hot Trends in Designer Swimsuits
Trends come and go in swimwear just as they do with any other item of clothing. While the bikini took over in the 80s and 90s, the one piece has started to make a comeback of late. Fifties-style fashion has been big for the past couple of years and that applies to swimwear as much as anything else.
A fifties style suit can be surprisingly flattering. These one pieces are cut to make the waist look smaller and the bust look bigger, creating a curvy, feminine silhouette. Current colors in swimwear also hark back to times gone by, with the fashion for polka-dots finding its way into swimwear collections, and sixties-style swirls cropping up again and again.
For a modern twist on the one piece, the "monokini" has shown up in a few different collections. Cut like a traditional bikini, the monokini is actually a one piece, with top and bottom connected by material at the sides of the suit.
The Top Designers
One pieces were big news at Louis Vuitton's spring/summer collection shows. Vuitton's one pieces come with sexy cut-outs, however, which are a world away from the frumpy old one pieces we're used to. Unlike some swimsuits, these creations aren't particularly forgiving, so remember to try before you buy to make sure you can get away with this figure flashing style!
At Gucci meanwhile, there are a lot of floral prints on show this season, for both women and men. Bold prints and patterns are characteristic of this season's designer swimwear style, and if you're looking for a suit that really makes a splash this season, you'll find yourself spoiled with choices.
As well as the big designers, there's also a range of designers who concentrate solely on swimwear. Brands such as Sauvage, Island Company, French Fifty and Luli Fama offer swimwear collections for men and women, covering every style and color imaginable.

Is It Worth Investing in a Designer Piece?
Of course, a designer swimsuit will cost significantly more than a suit picked up at WalMart, which may lead one to wonder if it's worth it. The answer will depend very much on yourself, and where you're planning to wear your new suit. If money is tight and you're shopping for a short vacation, then a store-bought swimsuit may well suit your purposes and save you some money. You'll also find a huge variety of swimsuit styles on offer at the lower end of the price range, which could allow you to buy a few different styles of suit for the price of one designer piece.
If you're looking for style, longevity and design, however, and you're planning to get a lot of wear out of your swimsuit, a designer suit may be the better investment. Designer swimsuits tend to be made from better material, which will stand up to immersion in chlorine or salt water and may last longer than a cheaper counterpart. You'll also get up-to-the-minute style, cut to flatter your figure.
The choice is yours!
