Hooters Bikini Contest

From LoveToKnow Swimsuits

The annual Hooters bikini contest is an opportunity for women to show off their great figures. That said, did you know that it's often also a chance to support a worthwhile charity and enjoy some great entertainment?

Have some fun - and do some good, too!

About Hooters

Hooters may be an eating establishment, but it's known first and foremost for its waitresses – the Hooters Girls. These women are, according to Hooters website, the "cornerstone of the Hooters concept," uniting the playful spirits of the company and of cheerleaders. This collaboration is an intriguing one because it fosters the growth of the company's charitable efforts while also promoting a fun time in the restaurant itself.

Of course, Hooters Girls are really recognized first and foremost for their uniforms. Just the word "Hooters" immediately calls to mind the short orange shorts, white top emblazoned with the company logo and owl motif and white sneakers. With such a strong focus on females and – there's no denying it – great bodies, too, it stands to reason that the company holds annual bikini contests.

About the Hooters Bikini Contest

Is a contest right for you?

The bikini contests are not limited to one location in particular, but instead usually take place at various Hooters locations in different parts of the country. The event is not relegated strictly to showing off women in bikinis on stage, although that is certainly a part of the festivities. A typical Hooters bikini contest might even be held in tandem with a charitable effort in order to draw a greater crowd and raise money for a good cause.

For example, a Hooters restaurant in Gainesville, Florida advertised its annual bikini contest as a fundraising effort for the Kelly Jo Dowd Fund, a breast cancer research fund named in honor of Hooters' 1998 calendar cover girl and Hooter Girl. The event featured live music, local radio station presence, food and, of course, the live pageant.

In another example, Hooters in Los Angeles, California sponsored a bikini contest with the intent of donating proceeds to animal services. The event was met with much controversy, but it raised awareness for a good cause and also put the spotlight on the "other side" of the Hooters business.

Raising Money

Indeed, the bikini contests provide a great opportunity for Hooters franchises to stand up for important causes, show the community a good time, raise money and allow local women the chance to shine up on stage. It's important to note that Hooters has raised over $8 million for national charities through the Hooters Community Endowment Fund (HOO.C.E.F.), one of the largest corporate endowment funds in the state of Georgia.

Joining the Competition

Look great, no matter the competition!

So you think you have what it takes to win a Hooters bikini contest? You're not the only one! If you're interested in being a part of a contest, you must be an actual Hooters Girl. Many regional bikini contests pit Hooters Girls from local restaurants against each other, all on the same stage, and all, of course, in the name of charity. (It should be noted that not all Hooters restaurants hold bikini contests implicitly for charity, but the majority of locations do choose to donate the proceeds from their contests to good causes.) If you think you have what it takes, pay a visit to the Hooters Web site and visit the Careers section for further details.
