Of Albanian and Italian decent, Kara DioGuardi grew up in New Rochelle, New York, and went on to receive a degree in political science at Duke University. Awarded ten BMI Pop Awards for writing the most performed songs on the radio, Kara DioGuardi has worked with Gwen Stefani, Pink, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and Marc Anthony, and that's just name a few!

Kara cut her television teeth as a judge on the ABC show The One: Making a Music Star, but the show was quickly cancelled. However, three years later she got another chance to demonstrate her musical know-how on American Idol, where it looks like she'll likely remain.

The Kara DioGuardi Bikini Moment

American Idol is no stranger to controversy, or popularity, and the Kara DioGuardi bikini moment that hit the airwaves certainly kept tongues wagging, It was a moment prefaced with the palpable friction between the idol judge and Katrina Darrell, aka, the "Bikini Girl".

During American Idol try outs, DioGuardi insisted that Ms. Darrell, who performed songstress Mariah Carey's Vision of Love, had no talent. Dioguardi was eventually overruled by her fellow Idol judges, and Ms. Darrell went on to perform on the show. However, America later agreed with Ms. DioGuardi, and Katrina Darrell was subsequently voted off the singing contest.

You'd think the controversy would end there, but American Idol had a dual surprise in store for its legions of fans. Ms. Darrell, the "Bikini Girl", was invited back during the show's two-hour season finale, and true to her moniker, sported a revealing pink bikini.

DioGuardi joined Darrell on stage where the two had something of a sing off to the now infamous Vision of Love. After the song's rendition, Kara DioGuardi surprised, and some say bested, her nemesis by unzipping her black dress to reveal a bikini, and a bikini-ready body, of her own.

DioGuardi's bikini moment seems to have endeared her even more to Idol fans, since most reported, via online comments, highly favorable reviews of the judge's stunt. It's no wonder then that many women are clamoring for a similar look.

While it's true that DioGuardi's bikini is your basic black bikini, what sets it apart from others is its jewel encrusted details. One jewel sits at the center of the bikini top, while the others rest on the hips of the bikini bottom. Putting It All Together

As evidenced by her numerous awards from the music industry, and her stunning appearance on American Idol, Kara DioGuardi is every bit as talented as she is beautiful.

Perhaps what's most impressive about this judge is her degree from Duke University; for sure,no easy feat and a possible sign of this song writer's determination. Women looking for a similar bikini style do have a few options, but keep in mind, no matter which bikini style you choose, that it was Kara's sense of humor and personality that played best of all.
