If you haven't yet heard of Le Doux Swimwear, you soon will. The company has just debuted its maiden line in time for Summer 2007. This exciting new brand delivers bikinis in a unique blend of unabashed Brazilian sensuality and laid back California style. Their designs have already been photographed on the likes of Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez.

The initial line includes over three dozen bikini styles and several silk tunic coverups. The collection is augmented by a line of lingerie, and an abbreviated line of girl's swimwear.

Le Doux Swimwear is the creation of mother and daughter team Juliana and Marly Renz. Marly resides in Brazil and oversees production of the line, while Juliana lives in the U.S.A. and oversees design and marketing.

Although considerably busy launching Le Doux, Juliana graciously agreed to talk swimwear and celebrities with us.

Get to Know Le Doux Swimwear

Juliana, thanks to Sports Illustrated, many of us are familiar with daring Brazilian-style swimwear, but Le Doux puts a slightly different spin on South American designs. Tell us more about it.

People dress in a very glamorous, relaxed style in California. Everything is very embellished and stylish. We try to incorporate that into our line, while maintaining that Brazilian flair.

So, you had a vision of the type of swimwear you wanted to create. How did you turn that vision into a reality, and what does it take to launch a brand new line?

To an extent, my creations are a reflection of what I am and what I like. So turning the vision into a final product is just a matter of sourcing for materials.

Designing the collection and finding the material is very fun. It's the most enjoyable part. Launching a new line is tough. There is so much competition and limitations to a new line. It's necessary to have a realistic budget, innovative ideas and a lot of faith in the product.

Even though the 2007 Le Doux Swimwear collection is your first ever, the brand has already begun to generate a lot of celebrity buzz. Tell us more about the stars who are wearing your suits.

We've been lucky to generate so much interest from celebrities so soon. By now, I think everyone has seen Cameron Diaz in our green "Lollipop" suit. She also wore "War" on the same trip to Hawaii. Jennifer Lopez received a few styles and she really loves "Daisy". Evangeline Lilly sent us a thank you note for receiving "St. Tropez." Drew Berrymore loves her suits, and Kristin Cavallari ordered a few styles in the beginning of the season.

At over three dozens suits in the collection, it's almost impossible to settle on just one. So far, which bikinis are stacking up as the hottest sellers?

Our "Cherry Lollipop" and "War" are our top sellers at the moment. Other styles generating a lot of sales and interest are "Femme Fatale,”, "Bling" and "Flora".

Each bikini is so beautifully coordinated that it would seem a shame to mix and match the collection, but can tops and bottoms be purchased separately for sizing?

People can't mix and match the styles with the current Le Doux Swimwear collection, but our suits can be bought in different size tops and bottoms. Our sizes run S, M and L. Next season, we'll begin carrying XS and XL as well.

This collection is for women, but we understand you'll also be launching a line of girls' swimwear. Tell us more about that.

We just launched our kids' line. The suits are simply adorable. It's a small line, but we give girls a chance to look more like mommy by the pool or at the beach.

Le Doux Swimwear is marketed as "high-end" swimwear. On average, what can we expect to pay for one of your designs, and where can we find your suits?

Our suits retail between $120.00 and $150.00, and they can most easily be purchased at Shop Le Doux.

We also have a California showroom, and boutiques currently carrying our line include:

  • Rumors in San Diego, California
  • Amore in Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Enchantress in Kihei-Maui, Hawaii
