Micro Bikinis

From LoveToKnow Swimsuits

Micro bikinis don't leave much to the imagination, except perhaps how they came into fashion in the first place.

Evolution of Micro Bikinis

In the beginning, there was the one piece swimsuit, and it was good. But soon, human kind wanted more freedom, and so the one piece was divided into two.

Human kind saw the two piece swimsuit and decided it was even better, and women happily began wearing their new two piece bikini swimsuits to the beaches and pools.

But soon, these women realized that there was more of their bodies that could be made golden by the rays of the sun, and they began to clamor for smaller bikinis that would increase their tanning potential. And so some of the material was cut away from those swimsuits and replaced by mere strings to hold everything together, and once again the string bikini was deemed good.

And yet, some were still not quite satisfied, and wished for even smaller bikinis that could give them the maximum exposure they so desperately sought. For these daring sun seekers, micro bikinis were specially created.

The Look

Okay, that dramatization was a bit over the top, but an article on such a fun topic can't be all serious can it? And micro bikinis really were developed to be the ultimate sun worshiper's swimsuit.

Essentially, a micro bikini is a thong bikini bottom, that covers almost nothing, paired with a super tiny triangle bikini top. For comparison, take the Brazilian Bikini, and make it less conservative by removing another inch or two from those tiny fabric triangles that barely cover the bosom. Now you have a true micro bikini.

Fabrics

Because of their scant nature, micro bikinis need to be made of fabrics that have a little give to them, or else they could never remain in strategic placement. For this reason, Spandex and Lycra are the two most favored fabrics used in micro bikini swimsuit construction. They offer just enough stretch for the swimsuit to become like a second skin, hugging what little area it's meant to cover.

However, these are not the only fabrics used in micro bikini production. The crochet bikini is very popular because it's mesh-like weave lets in even more sunlight than a regular bikini, so it was only natural that this bikini style would also be altered into a micro.

De-Accessorizing

Normally, one would want to accessorize one's fashions with complimentary bits of this and that, but with the micro bikini, it's all about taking it off, and by "it" we specifically mean hair.

The one absolute must to wearing a micro is to have absolutely no body hair to spoil those sleek, smooth lines, and so the bikini wax comes in to play. Also referred to as the Brazilian wax, this method of hair removal is very extreme, removing body hair from the traditional leg and underarm areas, and from nearly the entire pubic and anal regions as well. The process can be very painful, but it does get the desired results, so if you're going micro, learn to love the wax. The wax is your friend.

Now, the only question left is; after the micro, what's next?
