Micro Thong Bikinis
From LoveToKnow Swimsuits
Dare to go nearly bare with micro thong bikinis.
What are Micro Thong Bikinis?
In the world of swimwear, micro thong bikinis are about as daring as it gets. Think about publicly exposing as much of your body as you possibly can without getting arrested, and then plan on being arrested anyway. Get the idea?
Now, we may be exaggerating a bit for entertainment purposes, but not by much. Micro thong bikinis caused quite a shock wave when they first appeared on the beaches of Brazil in the late 1970's, and they're still enjoying the scandal they create nearly thirty years later.
Bottoms
The main characteristic of any micro thong bikini is its almost non-existent backside. In general, a very thin strip of elastic material is used to cover the valley between each cheek. The term "butt floss" is often used as a description, and although it sounds a bit vulgar, it is fairly accurate.
The front of the micro thong offers a bit more variety in coverage. You can choose full frontal coverage, moderate, or minimal.
Tops
While most of the attention micro thong bikinis garner is focused on the bottom piece, the tops can also be quite revealing.
Most true micro thongs have triangle tops, using two small pieces of triangle fabric to cover the bosom. These are usually attached to string ties that hold the fabric in place.
Most retail swimsuit outlets offer the opportunity to mix and match top and bottom pieces, so you are free to experiment until you get just the amount of coverage you want.
What it Takes to Wear One
What does it take to strut your stuff in a micro? Plenty of self-confidence, an awesome wax job and an unlimited supply of sun block.
Not everyone has a body to rival supermodels Giselle Bundchen or Elle MacPherson, and no one says you have to in order to wear a micro. However, if you're hoping to draw attention, be prepared to receive the type of attention you get.
Far more important than having the perfect figure, is having the right attitude. Anyone who wears one of these revealing suits should be completely comfortable with their own body, and not worried about how anyone else perceives it. Wear your micro thong for yourself first, and for anybody else in the vicinity second.
The Bikini Wax
The only way to wear one of these suits is to first submit to the dreaded bikini wax. If you're unfamiliar with what this is, gather around.
A bikini wax involves removing all body hair from the neck down, but most importantly from the genital/anal regions. You will be asked to remove all clothing and to lie back and assume a "knees up" position.
A light dusting of powder, and then a coat of warm wax will be applied and covered with a strip of masking paper. The wax will be allowed to cool momentarily, and then the strip of waxy paper will be quickly ripped away from your body, taking the hair beneath with it. This process will be repeated over the entire area until all but the very center patch of hair has been removed. This remaining hair will be neatly trimmed, and then you're finished.
Yes, the process is painful, but the results are amazing, and it generally takes weeks to see the appearance of fresh stubble. Many people find the pain is worth the convenience.
Not for All Venues
If all of the above info has convinced you that you are the micro thong bikini type, there's still one more important issue to consider. Where do you plan to wear your micro?
That fact is, not every swimming venue welcomes ultra revealing swimsuits with open arms. Most public pools and beaches post rules about what they consider appropriate/acceptable swimwear, and usually cater to a family-oriented atmosphere.
Private beaches and swimming clubs are your best bet for acceptance. European and South American beaches are also often far less inhibited about beachside exposure, and your suit will likely be the norm, rather than the exception, in Rio or sunny St. Tropez.
