The History of Salinas Swimwear
When it comes to swimwear, the Brazilians like to lead the way, and Brazilian-born Salinas Swimwear is the perfect example of Brazilian styling at its very best.
Salinas first came to prominence in 1997, when supermodel Tyra Banks wore one of the company's bikinis on the cover of Sports Illustrated's swimwear special. A new craze began, and these days Tyra isn't the only celebrity fan of the Salinas suit. They've been seen on the likes of Madonna, Kate Hudson and Gisele Bundchen, along with a host of other stars.
The Salinas 2006 Collection
A quick glance at this year's Salinas collection makes it clear just why everyone who's anyone is wearing the brand. Whereas many swimsuits can look boring and fuctional, sticking to tired old designs, the Salinas 2006 collection is a breath of fresh air.
At Salinas, designers have thrown away the rule book. Who says that your bikni top should be the same color as your bikini bottom, or even the same pattern? By mixing together styles and colors, the line is fun, funky and eclectic, guaranteed to help you stand out from the crowd.
The collection is split into two parts: bikinis and one pieces, and both are equally exciting.
Bikinis
There's a real mix of styles in bikini tops at Salinas this season. Halter necks have been heavily featured in most of the big swimwear designers' collections this summer, and there's a good choice of halters at Salinas, too, although other styles aren't forgotten. We particularly love the bandeau-topped red, white and blue bikini, which would be the prefect choice for a Forth of July pool party. Bikini bottoms are mainly hipster style, and some have cute little bows or skirts attached, too.
One Pieces
If you think one pieces are boring, think again. Salinas has recreated the traditional one piece, turning it into a high-fashion item that is anything but dull. Bold designs, cut-away shapes, and meticulous attention to detail make these one pieces pretty and sexy enough to have even the most dedicated bikini wearer switching to the one piece instead. The black and white striped suit which is the first item you'll see in the one piece section of the Salinas Swimwear website, is a case in point. With an off-the-shoulder cut and bold, retro pattern, it's as far removed as it's possible to get from the traditional one pieces we're used to seeing!
The Salinas Swimwear Website
The Salinas website can be found at SalinasSwimwear.com, and showcases all of the current styles available, along with pictures from the latest runway show. Unfortunately, it's not possible to buy your next swimsuit directly from the website, there is a list of retail outlets available, who will deliver your bikini right to your door.
There's also a media section that shows you the publications Salinas Swimwear has appeared in recently, so if the website doesn't satisfy your fashion fix, you'll know where to find more swimsuit photos to feast your eyes on.
