Sauvage Swimwear
From LoveToKnow Swimsuits
Sauvage Swimwear is all about fashion, glamour, and how the two intersect at the beach.
About Sauvage Swimwear
The Sauvage Swimwear designer, Elizabeth Southwood, describes her collection as a wild mix of intense colors and wild prints. This is true. All of this is then etched out in the most cutting edge swimwear styles, like that of the monokini, but even the cuts that are more "traditional" demonstrate a lovely ode to high fashion by way of Swarovski crystal accents. As you might imagine, Sauvage is truly exciting swimwear!
The Collection
The collection at Sauvage is broken up into three categories; Sauvage itself that focuses primarily on women, men's swimwear, and Luxe, an elegant take on paisley prints. Here’s a closer look.
The Sauvage Collection
Since Sauvage itself is the bread and butter of the entire collection, this is a great place to begin exploring the site, and the most important thing to know is that all of the swimsuits in this collection are named. Some of the standout styles include:
- Andros: Priced at $178.00, this monokini is stunning. The cut is glorious as it snakes its way around the body only to be "held" together by a shiny, square-shaped, red jewel. Note that the suit is only partially lined, so swimming in it may be a bit of a problem. However, it would look great on someone lounging poolside.
- Cheetah: This suit is named for its cheetah-like pattern, but instead of using a traditional yellow or beige color, it's red. Another interesting feature is the bottom of the suit done in a zigzag, peek-a-boo style. The top and bottom of the Cheetah is sold separately; $78.00 for the top and $74.00 for the bottom.
- Butterfly: the Butterfly is perfect for those that adore color as a riotous mix of yellow, blue and orange fill the canvas in a snakeskin pattern. Additionally, you can purchase this look as a one piece or as a separate bikini (with a top and bottom) for $178.00 and $98.00 respectively.
Luxe Collection
The 2009 Luxe collection is filled with Italian fabrics, and features "Xtra Lite" Lycra. What stands out about this collection are its prints with everything from toile to paisley is housed here.
- Batik-Chocolate: This is a one piece that features cut-out sides and an elegant, gold-chain detail on the straps. Similar to a toile swimsuit, the pattern here is of the "swirl" variety in a tri-color of white, chocolate and black. You can expect to pay $178.00 for this look.
- Beaded One Piece: Don't be fooled by the term "one piece"; this suit is anything but boring! The genius here lies at the back of the suit that features intricate details embedded in the fabric itself. When coupled with the bare back of the swimsuit, the results are devastatingly sexy.
- White Lapiz: Lapiz is a take on lapis lazuli that is a gorgeous shade of sapphire blue. Here, that blue comes in the form of jeweled accents that adorn a blazingly crisp, white bikini. You can expect to pay $90.00 for the halter top and $86.00 for the low rise bottom.
Men's Swimwear
The men's section features everything from beach shorts to modern square-cut briefs to form fitting trunks, and there are also plenty of eye catching prints to pique interest. These prints include plaid, Hawaiian and stripes. Some of the more notable swim trunks in this category are:
- Hawaiian Boards: Available for $58.00, you can purchase these board shorts in a variety of colors from a white paisley to electric green.
- Side Stripe Racing Brief: This is a great look that comes in ten different colors, all of which have the side stripe accent. One can expect to pay $38.00 for this look.
- Zebra Boards: These are a longer board short in solid colors. The "zebra" accent is placed at the very top portion of the shorts so that it appears more as an accent than an overall print. Available for $48.00.
Putting It All Together
While it's true that the swimsuits offered by Sauvage Swimwear are a bit on the pricey side, their ode to high fashion and glamour makes them gorgeous to behold. The colors, the prints and the exquisite details all combine to make a swimsuit that looks more appropriate on the catwalks of Milan than the beaches of San Diego. However, if sophistication is what you crave, you won’t have to look any further.
