Sheer Female Swimwear

From LoveToKnow Swimsuits

Sheer female swimwear is a hot trend among women who do not or cannot partake in full beach nudity, but want to be daring nonetheless. It's a way to show off and tease without baring it all.

The Magic of Sheer Female Swimwear

While there are exceptions, most sheer female swimwear is designed from fabric that becomes sheer only when wet. Even better, it dries quickly, so you can look like you're skinny-dipping while in the pool or ocean, but you're adequately clothed shortly after leaving the water.

Wearing a string bikini is one way to show off your body, and this is a fun variation of the sheer design. It can be preferable to totally transparent swimwear since the material is quick-drying and still offers a modicum of coverage.

Is This Look for Everyone?

Obviously, not all women want to wear sheer swimwear, any more than they might want to wear Brazilians or slingshots, but for those women who have a streak of exhibitionism about them, body size should not be a mitigating factor.

Nude beaches are far more common in Europe than in America, and they aren't considered titillating or a meat market. They're just another way to hit the beach. Europeans are also far more judicious about body size. For the most part, there is no sense that a plus-size woman needs to stay away from the beach or keep her body covered simply because of her figure. What a woman chooses to do is up to her.

Likewise, when it comes to sheer female swimwear, the decision is in the eye of the wearer, not those who will view her. It might take a bit more work to find a plus-size sheer swimsuit, but that should not deter a woman who wants to wear it. It's all about your attitude and comfort level.

Combining With Cover-ups

Of course, you do need to use discretion about where you wear a sheer swimsuit. No matter how quickly it dries, it's just not something you can get away with at a public pool that isn't for adults only. Even on the beach, you might occasionally run afoul of authorities or parents who would rather their children not see a virtually naked woman in the water. There are plenty of places where you can wear your swimsuit and not run into any problems, thus allowing yourself full enjoyment.

If you're just skating on the edge, or have a sudden bout of modesty, you should keep a few good cover-ups nearby. Most sheer swimsuits come with matching cover-ups, or you can mix and match as you choose. You might want a cover-up for when you just get out of the water to keep you legal while your suit is drying.

Test Before Purchasing

It's mostly just the specialty shops that sell sheer swimwear, and this works to your advantage when shopping. If you've never worn a sheer swimsuit before and want to know what you're in for, you can ask the salesperson for a glass of water or if they have a spritz bottle.

Of course, not all shops will be willing to provide this extra service since it could be argued that it compromises the swimsuit if you choose not to buy, but it's worth asking. Some shops might have a "tester" suit available for just this purpose. They understand that you need to get a strong sense of exactly how revealed you will be before you take the plunge.

If you're not quite ready for total transparency, you might try a semi-opaque suit, or one that will change color when wet. No matter which you choose, you're guaranteed to make a splash.
