Single String Bikini
From LoveToKnow Swimsuits
Single string bikinis are easy to wear and are definitely special swimsuits that you can mix and match in a variety of different styles. If you're looking for string bikini bottoms, how about pairing them with a halter top, a tankini, or a matching triangle top? It's stylish, it's easy, and it's often more affordable than a traditional-style bikini (less fabric!).
Characteristics of a Single String Bikini
Average string bikinis are typically high cut and brief, with string tie sides on the bottoms that are usually adjustable. While many of them do feature full coverage bottoms, you can find plenty of string bikinis with thongs if you prefer.
The term "single string bikini" often refers to the construction of the bikini top itself. In this style, a single string is used to loop over your neck, and the string is threaded through both sides of the top and tied together at the back to hold everything in place. The design is doubtlessly sexy, but it's difficult to find.
Who Should Wear a String Bikini?
Try on a string bikini if you have one of the following characteristics:
- Petite with a slim to average build.
- Tall, thin, or square with a need for curve enhancement.
- Lanky, but with a backside.
- Curvy and confident.
- Larger breasted, but with smaller hips.
- An hourglass figure without the need for extra support.
Styling Tips for a String Bikini
- You don't have to match your single string bikini! Try coordinating solid colors or subtle prints in black and white for a stylish look. Go bold, because there's not too much fabric in your bikini ensemble, anyway.
- Don't forget to double knot your bikini bottoms to keep them on securely. A single knot can be dangerous if you are swimming in the surf and want to keep your bottoms secure.
- Play around with different brands for the look that leaves you most secure. You'll find that different brands have slightly different cuts, coverage, and string strap lengths as you require. Matching bikini tops will also feel and look different, depending on fabric type, shape, and embellishment.
- Keep in mind that single string suits can have different cuts in back. Go for moderate or thong backs as you see fit.
- Try to avoid wearing heels with your single string suit. Instead, wear it with low wedges or flats like thong sandals or rubber flip flops.
- Check out your cover-up selection. It's essential that your choice falls at a point below the low hips. With a comfortable, longer shirt on, you don't run the risk of looking like you're not wearing any string bikini bottoms at all.
- Play with a single string suit selection by pairing skinny string bottoms and a strapless tankini top.
- Be careful with accessorizing when you're wearing a string bikini bottom. You might notice that your string bikini looks a lot more innocent with things like a bandanna or simple accessories like bangles. You might also want to try dressing it down with a headband, but stay away from belly chains, long necklaces, chandelier earrings or chunky belly button rings.
- If you like to layer your swimsuit underneath your street clothes on a regular basis, you might want to aim for a string bikini with slimmer straps and a less coverage for the backâfewer chances for fabric sneaking where it doesn't belong, or bulking up beneath skinny silhouettes.
