As sexy swimsuits go, the slingshot thong is more practical for modeling in Sports Illustrated than any actual swimming. It is a suit that manages to be almost as funny as it is daring and revealing.

The fact that you don't have a lot of mobility unless you want to use spirit gum or another kind of glue to hold the swimsuit in place while you walk, sit or move also cuts down on the comfort. So can the pull of the thong. Of course, comfort is hardly the point in this suit; it is really designed to make a statement. If you want to enjoy your time by the water, as well as be daring and revealing, you might be better off in a micro bikini or something similar.

Some slingshot thongs are designed to be a bit more practical, although not much. The suit available at the Flirt Catalog, for example, has some shaping around the waist and a criss-cross style at the neck, creating some stability. It's made of nylon Lycra, so it will stay in position, although it's still more suitable for a dip in a hot tub than swimming laps. However, it's always good to have a sexy something on hand for sitting in a hot tub!

Body Body has a large selection of slingshot thongs, and features a more risqué version of the criss-cross; it gives you a nearly completely bare back and is cut narrower across the front. It ties at the back of the neck so you can achieve exactly the right amount of tension to help hold the suit in place.

Men wear slingshot thongs as well, and unlike Borat, they generally don't do so for a laugh. The thongs might be paraded at a pool party, but they are more along the lines of fetish gear rather than a sexy brief. As extreme male swimwear goes, the thongs are up near the top of the list.
