Swimsuit Paint
From LoveToKnow Swimsuits
Swimsuit paint can be used for photo shoots or for fun, but beware— don't try to swim in it, or you could wind up with a new answer to, "So, what's your most embarrassing moment?" A painted on swimsuit's meant as an art form, not for fun in the sun. However, you'll be happy to know that most people can't tell you're just wearing paint, and you feel like you're wearing the real thing.
Learn More About Swimsuit Paint
Future Class X
Future Class X has a section on body painting, with a few photographs of a model in a painted-on latex swimsuit. The zipper is real, attached via latex paint, but the rest of the suit is pure artistic talent. In case you're wondering how long a masterpiece like this takes to paint, it took the painter 2.5 hours to finish the entire suit.
Wondering what it feels like to be painted? Check out the interview with the model on the Future Class X page. Here's an overview:
- It tickles!
- People easily mistake the swimsuit paint for a real swimsuit.
- You feel like you're wearing clothes when you're just wearing the paint.
- As you can imagine, the look can be incredibly skimpy.
Your Swimsuit Guide
Your Swimsuit Guide has many pictures of people in very realistic swimsuits. According to this site, when swimsuit paint's used, glue is also used to add on the little details that make the suit look more realistic like zippers, threads and linings.
One tip from this site is to paint on ripples and creases to give a 3-D effect that makes the suit look like fabric rather than paint. In addition, this site states that you can wear some painted-on suits into the water. The latex swimsuit paint (Deviant Liquid Latex) just peels off, but they're water-friendly.

The Paints
What to Use
Two materials are generally used for painting swimsuits onto the human body.
- Latex: Water-friendly as mentioned above, this paint peels right off. If you have any body hair, beware! Pulling off the latex can pull off hair, resulting in serious pain.
- Body paint: This is the stuff that's not good for wearing near water! It will wash off easily and result in an embarrassing moment you won't want to tell your grand kids about one day. It's applied with a brush just like traditional paints on canvas.
