About TYR Swimsuits

Pronounced "tier," TYR is named for the Norse god of warriors and the deity among athletes. The company was founded in 1985 by fashion pattern maker Joseph di Lorenzo and Olympic swimmer and medalist Steve Furniss. Offering a diverse line of swimwear for men, women and children, the brand is renowned for its innovative, edgy and stylish designs.

Women's Collection

Also available in a multitude of prints and solid hues, the TYR women's collection of swimwear is as functional as the men's and just as eye-catching. All women's designs are available in either Lycra or polyester fabrics.

The Diamondback

Ideal for both performing and recreational swimmers, the Diamondback is similar to the men's Racer suit in that it reduces drag and improves performance through its innovative design. It allows significant freedom of motion, particularly in comparison to basic swimsuits, and is constructed of nylon and Lycra.

The Maxback

Offering the same freedom of motion as the Diamondback, the Maxback provides slightly more coverage with its extra-wide straps and overall conservative design. It, too, is designed for performers and recreational swimmers.

Men's Collection

The Jammer

Many varieties of the popular Jammer swim short exist. This short is designed especially for racing and training. It provides the swimmer with extra support and coverage and enhances muscle compression. In addition to its functionality, the shorts are exceptionally comfortable. Regular wearers report that the Jammer is lightweight and feels more like a second skin than a pair of constricting swim shorts.

The Racer

It features the same flat-braided, non-slip drawstring as the Jammer, and it is cut generously in the side seams, which allows the wearer unrestricted leg movement. The Racer's flat seam allover construction, meanwhile, reduces drag and ensures optimal comfort.

The Racer is available in several styles, including the limited edition Flash Male Racer. This particular piece, known as a "two year print," will be sold through summer of 2008.

Aqua Shift

It's the ultimate swimsuit for the competitive swimmer. The Aqua Shift series is truly the first of its kind. Pairing technological and scientific advancements with a fashionable design, the Aqua Shift is designed to significantly reduce the drag caused by waves and pressure. The suits are designed with the brand's Tripwires™, key elements that are placed in the top, back and bottom of each piece. The strategically placed Tripwires™ make the suit more hydrodynamic and efficient, thereby improving the wearer's performance while also improving muscle performance and encouraging recovery.

Youth Collections
