Texas Bikini Team

Rumor has it that Texas has the most beautiful women, and the Texas Bikini Team (TBT) is there to prove it to the rest of the world. This promotional team was created in 1992 and set out to feature the most beautiful women in Texas who would then tour together as the largest swimsuit company to do personal appearances.

Making Texas proud...

The team was created in 1992 by Kevin Beal and Dawn Waggoner. They designed a special "team" bikini that, according to the Texas Bikini website, is worn by thirty-one percent of the nation's hottest swimsuit models. The exceptionally beautiful women who make up the team get together and tour the country every year, making appearances on television shows, in commercials, in magazines and more. They also show up to do boating events, grand openings and conventions. It's basically a promotional team that hosts yearly tryouts to find new models.

The girls begin their tour across the United States every winter and generally make it to about thirty states. If you think you've seen them before, you probably have!

Want to be known as one of the sexiest girls in the United States? Try out for the team. There are contests every year in which the team looks to recruit new members. And if you're a business owner who could benefit from hosting a tryout event at your location, that's possible, too.

Want to strut your stuff in a red, white and blue "Texas Proud" bikini all over the United States making appearances on television, in magazines and at events? Check the tryout site for more information about the date and time of the current year's tryouts. The first round of tryouts are in Texas, and then the finalists go somewhere exotic (i.e. the Bahamas in 2009) for another round.

To enter, you have to be between seventeen and thirty years of age, and that includes all newcomers, current members and alumni. The TBT will choose up to forty finalists who compete for spots in the calendar.

So how do you even begin to compete? There are three ways:

1. Attend a TBT event that serves as an open call where you'll briefly meet with a staff member. You'll have a photo session, then your wait for a phone call to find out if you make it to the next round. If chosen, you'll be asked to attend the finals.
2. Participate in a TBT bikini contest held at a nightclub, water park, etc.
3. Photos: This one has a $25.00 entry fee. You simply submit two photographs of yourself, one where you're in a bikini. You may also submit a photo to be considered for the Grand Finals, but that one comes with a hefty $350.00 bypass fee and has to be pre-approved by management. This is for those girls who can't make it to the Regional Finals.

You can purchase a contest kit on the Texas Bikini site. It will include everything you need to host a competition. Preliminaries are usually held between April and August. They recommend that you hold six weeks' worth of contests, choosing three winners each week, and then send your finalists to the TBT State Finals.

You'll bring in customers in the form of the young women who want to win as well as the people who want to watch the competition. By offering the possibility of an eventual spot on the Texas Bikini Team, the stakes are higher than most other bikini contests. There's more money to be awarded along with that prestige.
