Thong Swimsuits

If modesty isn't an issue and you have the confidence to wear one, very revealing thong swimsuits present another option in sexy swimwear. While not every woman feels comfortable in such a daring bottom, you might be pleasantly surprised to discover how good you look in one, particularly if hitting the gym is one of your pastimes.

Different Kinds of Thong Swimsuits

Thong swimsuits may be most typically associated with bikinis, but they are also available in one piece and tankini styles as well. One piece swimsuit thongs are actually becoming very popular, especially if the bathing suit has other strategic cutouts.

Thong swimsuits use the same variety names as the lingerie.

  • G-string thongs or Rios are very revealing and you will no doubt need to wax your pubic area before wearing one. G-string thongs usually consist of a small front triangle and strings for the sides and rear.
  • V-string thongs are so named because they have a patch in the back that forms a V or a triangle shape. V-strings provide a little more coverage than G-strings, but not as much as a tanga.
  • T-band thongs form a T in the back. They usually have good coverage in the front, a wide waist, and more coverage in the rear than g-strings or v-strings.
  • Tanga thongs are usually less revealing with higher and thicker sides and more covering in the front and rear. Tangas basically provide the most covering of all the thong swimsuits.

How Revealing are Thong Bathing Suits?

Most thong bathing suits are extremely revealing and very sexy. One piece thong swimsuits often have additional strategic cutouts that may show your back, stomach and sides. Bikini thongs are typically even more revealing. The tops generally have very little fabric to them and the front of the bikini bottoms tend to be extremely revealing as well. Materials range from standard Lycra to very sheer, so bikini waxing is essential when wearing this style.

Deciding Whether to Purchase a Thong Swimsuit

Thong swimsuits are more geared toward creating a "look", and are not generally suited for more physical beach-side activities. You can certainly sun and swim in them, but you may want to skip that volley ball game, or add a cover-up first.

If you're seriously considering a thong, think about whether it will compliment your body type. Thongs can look spectacular on some bodies, but they aren't equally flattering to all body shapes. Confidence also plays a large role in being able to pull off wearing a thong. If you're a bit on the shy side, you may want to consider a less revealing, but still sexy suit such as a string bikini.

As mentioned previously, thongs are not completely suitable for all swimming/beach related activities, so this should be taken into consideration before you decide on a purchase. You may also want to think about just where you plan to wear your suit. Will it be in a public beach or pool area, or perhaps on a private beach or your own backyard? Some public swimming venues have strict rules about what they find acceptable swimwear, so it's a good idea to check ahead with wherever you plan to wear your suit.

Is it For You?

Thongs may not be the best choice for every woman and every situation, but under the right circumstances they can create a spectacular reaction. Is a thong the swimsuit for you? Only you can decide.
